Thomas J. Trenolone

Tom is an architect and design advocate with the international architecture practice of HDR Architecture. Tom serves as a Design Director and Principal leading the firms Great Plains Studio(s). He holds degrees in Architecture and Awork includes Grand Island Regional Hospital, Focal Point Community Campus and Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, IL. Author of a 2019 Design Fellowship, entitled “Rural Resolve - Imagining the Future of Health and Wellbeing of Small Communities.” This fellowship was an in-depth study of how rural communities can save their local hospitals through non-traditional program pairings and design techniques. He currently leads the design curriculum for Unicameral Design magazine staff.

Sofia Paloma Castro

Associate Editor

Sofia is a design coordinator with HDR and joins the Unicameral Design magazine team as an associate editor of Volume 5 while entering an academic gap year. In May 2026, she graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Design: Architecture degree with distinction and a minor in Spanish. She is an IDEA Great Plains Student Award Recipient for her collaborative studio project and an International Baccalaureate Diploma Recipient. Sofia held prior internships at Steven Ginn Architects and with the College of IS&T at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. In her free time, she enjoys attending concerts and films at local cinemas, exploring art galleries, and thrifting.















Benjamin Morgan

Associate Editor

Benjamin is a Design Coordinator at HDR and joins the Unicameral design magazine team as an Associate Editor for Volume 5 during his academic gap year. He graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Design: Architectural Studies and a minor in Business. During his time at Nebraska, Benjamin served as an Orientation Leader, participated in the Undergraduate Creative Activities and Research Experience (UCARE) program through the College of Architecture, and was elected Student Body Vice President, serving in that role, throughout his senior year. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and taking long walks.
